Facilitating Consensus in Groups With R. Bruce Williams

DESCRIPTION OF GROUP FACILITATION WORKSHOPS

STRATEGIC PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

This highly interactive two-day workshop process moves a group from its own practical vision to a detailed implementation plan for its first quarter of action. During the first day, the group participates in three workshops: The Three-Year Practical Vision, The Underlying Blocks, and The Strategic Directions. By the end of this day, the group has created its framework for action. During the second day, the group, divided into action teams, creates its first year plan of accomplishments. The day concludes with a detailed step-by-step plan for its first quarter, naming the who's, what's, and when's to the successful completion of its first quarter accomplishments.

CONSENSUS GENERATION

This activity-oriented, experiential workshop will model four basic strategies for creating consensus. Through these strategies, the group will experience first hand the effectiveness of the elements of individual thinking, mini-team dialogue, and whole group discussion and consensus. In conclusion, the participants will work on the application of these strategies to actual consensus-building needs in their work situations.

TEAM BUILDING AND EMPOWERMENT

This presentation is a highly experiential workshop demonstrating a variety of tools and methods to help build teams for implementing self-empowered change. Workshop products summarize the group's thinking on what they want to see happening, what objective blocks are standing in the way of this and finally what action arenas will bring the desired change.

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

This highly interactive workshop will provide tools and approaches to help teams look beyond and beneath current conflicts to discern the values held commonly by the entire team. An actual on-the-spot role play situation will give everyone an authentic encounter in which to experience the shift from conflict to connection within the group. In addition, the workshop demonstrates the move from common values to elements of win-win scenario solutions.

FACILITATION SKILLS TRAINING

Two facilitation skills are highlighted in this training opportunity. Planning a successful workshop format is the first. Structuring a discussion or conversation that can lead to closure and decision is the second. Depending on the length of time available and the needs of the particular situation a training format can be created to give both experience and hands-on training in the above two facilitation skills.
